Greg Norman is probably one of the most successful men in the golf community. Not just on the field, the legend has reached several pedestals off the course as well! However, his brutal honesty in interviews has given him lots of rivals in the golf world. But there is one man who speaks highly of the former professional. And it’s none other than Norman’s old caddie, Tony Navarro.

Norman, 67, didn’t have a lot of friends in the golf fraternity until he started the LIV Golf series. The golf legend has had a blast during his career as a professional during his prime years. After a long time of struggling to find players to work with, Navarro finally landed on Greg Norman’s radar. He even got offers for working with legends like Tiger Woods but was denied as he was still working with Norman. And it shows nothing but his loyalty toward his golfer. It was no less than a career changer for Navarro to work with Greg Norman.
In an interview about the LIV Golf CEO, Navarro explained what made him work for the golf star for years. “Greg was very intense, very hard working. A perfectionist,” he said. According to Navarro, the golfer dealt with him better off the field than during tournaments. After all, his focus on winning the game was bound to bring along “inevitable battles on the course”.

But despite several disagreements on the field, Norman treated his caddie and his family as his own. In Navarro’s words, Norman made them feel “like they were his family”. “He would let me take my wife with us and we stayed where Greg stayed. If Greg stayed at a Ritz-Carlton, we stayed at a Ritz-Carlton. If Greg stayed at a castle in Ireland, we stayed at the castle in Ireland.”

Well, it’s sadly not very common for players to treat their caddies with as much respect as they treat other golfers. But there was something different about Norman’s relationship with his caddie. And as per the ‘shark’, it was Navarro’s “professionalism and loyalty” that brought all the respect Norman had for him. Not only his game, Navarro understood Norman as a person. For Norman, Tony Navarro is still one of his “dearest friends”.
