How much did Cameron Smith and Max Homa earn from their respective victories?
A major difference between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf has been the amount of money they have offered to their players. And for LIV Golf, it has been a unique selling point to offer more money to the players than on the former tour. And Greg Norman has succeeded with this strategy to lure out the best talents from the PGA Tour. However, there are still a few players left on the former tour including Fortinet Championship winner Max Homa.

Max Homa won the Fortinet Championship in California and pocketed $1,440,000 along with the title. It was the first tournament for the new 2022-2023 season of the PGA Tour. While LIV Golf recently organized a tournament in Chicago with much greater prize money at stake. Winning the event, the new LIV Golf champion Cameron Smith banked $6 million from his victory.

It is clear that the new league is offering a much higher amount to its players as prize money. Moreover, Smith being the champion of the LIV Golf tournament made almost four times the money compared to Homa’s earnings. It raises many questions in the minds of the fans.
Why is the PGA Tour not paying the players as much as LIV Golf? And why is a talented player like Max Homa still playing on the PGA Tour? Is it because he wants to protect his legacy? Or is this a chance for him to shine on the PGA Tour since most good players have shifted to LIV Golf? Such questions will likely remain as long as both the LIV Golf and PGA Tour compete to be seen as the premier destination in the sport.

What did Smith and Homa say after their respective wins?
According to Max Homa, people were thinking that he only had a chance at winning since many good players had shifted to LIV Golf. After his victory, he said, “I’ve had a few guys tell me that if the LIV guys hadn’t left I wouldn’t have made the President’s Cup team, so I had a little bit of a chip on my shoulder this week.”

On the other hand, Smith was very happy after his victory at the Chicago tournament and said, “I think I had to prove to probably myself and some other people that I am still a great player, you know I am still out here to win golf tournaments… Proud of how I hung in there today.”
