In 2022, Dustin Johnson left behind the traditional PGA Tour and moved ahead with LIV Golf. And today marks the one-year anniversary of Johnson’s first LIV victory. In 2022, on 5th September, he scored his first victory in the Saudi-backed league in Boston.

And as LIV Golf reminisced about the final eagle putt that served victory for DJ, fans expressed their disappointment over his non-selection in the Ryder Cup. Even Zach Johnson was brought down for not including Johnson as his captain’s pick.

Dustin Johnson completes one year of first Saudi circuit win

While the LIV Defectors have moved ahead in life with almost no qualms, they were unhappy about losing the opportunity to play in the Ryder Cup. Dustin Johnson was among those players who had openly expressed his desire to play in the esteemed event.

But his dreams were unfulfilled as only Brooks Koepka from the LIV team made it to the event. However, Johnson has another landmark to celebrate. Today he completes one year of his first LIV win in the Boston event. To mark the anniversary, LIV Golf shared the clip of his final eagle putt.

DJ won the event with a 35-foot eagle putt on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. Johnson’s putt on the par-5 18th was going so fast, it could have rolled around many feet past the hole but luckily it hit the back of the cup and dropped down in the cup. Johnson beat Joaquin Niemann and Anirban Lahiri. The win brought him a paycheck of $4 million.

Seeing the incredible shot, fans were left mesmerized and complained about why, despite being such a talent, Dustin is missing from the Ryder Cup.

Fans quickly filled the comment section and expressed that DJ should be part of the Cup. “Johnson and Dechambeau should be on the Ryder cup team.” Another called Zach Johnson a pushover, “Still can’t believe they didn’t want this machine representing in Rome. ZJ is a pushover.” While one fan expressed strong discontent over his non-selection. “How could you not look at his Ryder/Presidents Cup record and not pick him?”
