Greg Norman is probably one of the very rare players who switched to becoming a businessman after such a successful golfing career. The golf legend has made millions of fans throughout his time on the field. However today, Norman is counted among the most accomplished businessmen in the golf world. And a huge credit for his success goes to his father as well. Norman once opened up about how his old man’s life guidance helped him become the man he is.
Greg Norman shared his father’s golden advice

His newest and rather most controversial venture has everything to do with the sport. Ever since Norman came up with LIV Golf in the market, there has been a drastic shift of players toward his league. And it was a clear example of how good he is in everything he does. Be it winning 91 professional tournaments on the PGA tour, or running a super-successful business, Norman knows exactly how to ace it.

But despite all his success, Norman doesn’t take full credit for it. Instead, the golf legend strongly believes that his father’s special life advice has helped him reach such pedestals in his career. During a Q&A session with Jennifer Leach English in 2020, Norman revealed his father’s strong advice that completely revolutionized his life.
“My dad taught me a lot of the values of life: never tell a lie and be true to yourself and stuff like that,” Norman said. “He was tough because his dad was really tough on him.” Norman’s father Mervin, who passed away recently in October 2022, had a pretty complex relationship with his son.

The golfer once revealed how his father never believed that he could make it in golf. “My dad never thought I’d be the golfer I became,” he said. But Norman didn’t want to succumb to the relationship and give up on his dreams. “I didn’t want to be that way. I wanted to break the chain,” he stated. “So I made a decision when I was 14 or 15 to seize life for myself.”
