Last year, as LIV Golf started to pick up the pace, they had to leave many pros behind. Greg Norman brutally cut golfers from the breakaway series’ ranks to make room for bigger names. Now, several months after the incident, a former rebel claps back at ‘the shark’ after his latest extraordinary achievement. And Norman wasn’t the only golf great that the ex-LIV golfer called out post his accomplishment! He also had a humble message for golf legend, Tiger Woods.

An ex-LIV golfer has a snarky message for Greg Norman
Of late, the fast-approaching Masters Tournament has been the talk of the town. But when it comes to the axed breakaway league player, Travis Smyth, he looks on to an entirely different major championship altogether – the Open Championship. And the reason is that just hours ago he qualified for its field.

Just last week, Smyth competed in the World City Championship on the Asian Tour. Narrowly missing out on a win by just two strokes, the golf pro secured a third-place finish. That placing was more than enough to see him win a spot on the July major – The Open Championship. The irony of it all was that the ex-LIV golfer did it in 54 holes, the Saudi-backed Series’ signature.

Due to the terrible weather in Hong Kong, the event was reduced to 54 holes from its regular 72-hole format. Smyth, of course, couldn’t help but relate that to the three events he played for LIV, and by taking to Twitter, he made his feelings known. “It was a pity about the weather but Im improving on my 54 hole events,” he wrote, tagging Norman and LIV Golf, clearly hinting that he wanted back in.

Moments before his smug comment for Norman, Smyth had a heartfelt request for the 15-time major winner. Celebrating his entry into the major, he took to Twitter and wrote, “3rd place finish in last weeks @asiantourgolf event was enough to qualify me to this years @TheOpen!” And he was just as excited about taking the field as he was about possibly sharing it with Woods.

Requesting the 82-time PGA Tour champion to show up to the event, he wrote, “Bring it on! Cmon @TigerWoods please play!” Woods, of course, has been injured since his appearance at the Genesis Invitational earlier last month. But the golf pro is expected to take the field next month at the Masters, and if all goes well, he will certainly be at the Open Championship.
