Dustin Johnson is among the famous names playing this week at the 2022 PGA Championship. However, Dustin is in the limelight even before playing the first round at Southern Hills Country Club. He is in the spotlight for his recent comment on the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational series.

In his press conference on Wednesday at Southern Hills Country Club, the two-time major championship spoke about the LIV Golf or the rival tour. Not to forget, he is among the group of professionals who have shown their loyalty towards the PGA Tour and decided to stick with the Tour and not join the Saudi-backed golf league.
However, the 37-year-old professional spoke about being excited to see how LIV Golf turns out. Dustin’s comments may come as a surprise as he has already announced that he will be staying with the PGA Tour, and his recent comments may raise some questions about the same.

Moreover, he talked about LIV Golf after being asked what he thinks about golf being at a critical crossroads and how he sees it shaking out. The 2020 Masters champions also talked about golf being in a good spot.
Johnson said, “I mean, I think golf is in a good spot, and I think what they’re doing is — could potentially be good for the game of golf. I’m excited to see what happens here in a few weeks.”
Moreover, Dustin’s words may seem as if he is waiting to see how the whole rival tour saga does.

Moreover, in the same media interaction, Dustin talked about Phil Mickelson. He talked about the defending champion this week after being asked, when will the golf world see the six-time major championship winner back playing competitive golf.
Johnson said, “Yeah, I mean, obviously Phil is one of the greats of the game. I was hoping to see him here this week. But I haven’t talked to him, so I really don’t know when we’ll see him again.”

How did Dustin Johnson play at the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson?
Johnson had a strong finish at the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch. He ended the tournament with an overall score of 12-under-par. He finished in tied 59th position, a whopping 14 shots back from the winner of the PGA Tour event.

Moreover, Dustin carded a final round of one-over-par, 73 to finish just inside the top 60 on the leaderboard. His final round included one birdie and one bogey on the opening nine holes. As a result, Johnson moved out in level-par, 36. He made two bogeys and one birdie on the back nine to end his campaign at the event.
