Donald Trump has backed up LIV Golf from the league’s starting days. An ardent admirer of golf, his association with LIV has given him the opportunity to stay connected with his favourite sport.

Though he was quite disappointed at not being able to host the Open Championship at Turnberry, Scotland. But the recent development with LIV Golf has given him a big reason to forget the old wound and be happy with new beginnings. Let’s find out more.

Donald Trump’s golf course finalized for LIV Golf event

Donald Trump is all set to host the 2023 season-ending tournament of LIV Golf. This year again LIV Golf will be hosting its Team Championship tournament at Doral National Golf Club. The previous venue of the event was Saudi Arabia from where it has been moved to Trump Doral National Golf Club in Miami from October 20-22. The news was shared by Trump Golf on their Instagram page.

After the merger, this will be the first time that Trump’s courses will be hosting any tournament of the Saudi-backed league. This is big news for the ex-POTUS who despite his adoration for the sport couldn’t bring the major championships to his courses.

Up until last month, Trump was all set to host the upcoming Open Championship in July at his Turnberry Golf Course in Scotland. But the R&A soon crushed this precious dream of his when they denied the permission to hold the event at any of Donald’s courses stating security reasons. Prior to that, Trump also suffered a big disappointment last year when the 2022 PGA Championship which was scheduled for his Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster, New Jersey was canceled as venue. The reason that was given was that he had played an active role in the storming of the US Capitol a year ago.

Trump’s courses are regular hosts of LIV Golf tournaments

Ever since LIV Golf has come into existence, the Trump National Golf Club courses have been its premium hosts. Last year also the Team Championship was hosted on the same course where the Team 4 Aces GC Won. For this year three venues were already finalised for some of the LIV’s tournaments. LIV Golf DC was held at Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C., in May. And another event is scheduled in the month of August at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The Team Championship will be the fifth LIV event hosted by him.

Although the ex-POTUS’ dream to host a major tournament on one of his golf courses is yet unfulfilled, he has been given some hope in the current situation.
