Andrew Novak’s performance was very close to ensuring Justin Thomas‘ losing streak continues at the 2025 RBC Heritage. It took a round of playoffs to separate the two, as Thomas finally broke the curse and wore the plaid jacket in the end. Novak was also eager to finally grab his first PGA Tour win. But the Harbour Town Golf Links was not the place he would get it. However, it seems that TPC Louisiana might be the venue where fans finally see the 30-year-old celebrate a victory.

After three rounds of action, Novak and his partner, Ben Griffin, are in the Zurich Classic 2025. Only a week after losing to Thomas, he will be heading into another intense final round battle to maybe take away the title from Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. An incredible 11-under par 61 in the penultimate round ensured that the two had a comfortable 3-stroke lead against the field. For two weeks in a row, Novak has proven that he is in great form right now. Interestingly, he too was confident about his team’s chances of competing for the Zurich Classic days before the competition kicked off.

A day after the 2025 RBC Heritage, Andrew Novak joined the Any Given Monday podcast. A segment of the same was shared by Monday Q Info on X, where he talked about his chances of winning the 2025 Zurich Classic. With a caption, On Monday I talked with @AndrewNovakgolf about he and @bengriffingolf were going to approach this week at the Zurich. So far it’s worked perfectly. They tee off today with the lead,” the attached video had the PGA Tour pro talking to the host about his expectations from the tournament.

Novak said, “I’d like to treat this week as a fun week. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to win.” Seems like the Raleigh local is going into the TPC Louisiana event with a very positive mindset despite a disappointing loss to Justin Thomas only a few hours ago. However,  he also clarified, “That doesn’t mean I’m not trying my very hardest to play well. But I think, keeping good vibes within the group, keeping it a little bit light… We have our games at Sea Island. A little 2v2 in the group. Joking around, having a good time with it.” He believes that the team format of the Zurich Classic makes the tournament a lot more fun, as apart from the entire competition, they can also have a team battle within their group.

He also had something to say about playing with Griffin. In the Monday Q Info video, he shared, “Playing with Ben is going to be really good for that. Because he only knows one way, and that’s having a good time out there. So I think it’s just going to be a lot of fun this week.” Based on Novak’s statement, it seems that he shares a great dynamic with Griffin. However, the two also complement each other well on the course, as per the 2025 RBC Heritage runner-up.

Speaking of their partnership, Novak said that they have a strong team and are considered one of the favorites to win. While the odds aren’t known, it’s a great course for Griffin, and he’s coming in on strong form. He also confessed that he believes his team can contend for the title. Novak’s prediction has played out well now that they are at the top of the leaderboard in the final round.

Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin: Zurich Classic history

Justin Thomas’ rival at Harbour Town Golf Links, Andrew Novak, has appeared in 99 tournaments. Three of them were in the Zurich Classic. For three years in a row, Novak has been playing in the TPC Louisiana event. Each time, the 30-year-old has had a different partner. In 2024, alongside Davis Thompson, Novak finished at T23 in the tournament. He missed the cut in 2022 with Max McGreevy and again in 2023 with Trevor Cone.

When it comes to Ben Griffin, he has only made two other appearances in the Zurich Classic. On both occasions, he and his partner missed the cut. In 2024, Griffin was teamed with Taylor Montgomery, and in 2023, Ryan Gerard was his partner. Apart from these 5 appearances, the two have never played at TPC Louisiana for any other official tournament. This may disprove Novak’s statement that Griffin is great on the course. But he may have seen something on the fairway that may not have been captured on the cameras.

Having said that, do you think Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin can take the title from Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry in the 2025 Zurich Classic? Let us know in the comments section.
