For the past few years, the growth of the LPGA Tour has been enormous. The intriguing competition combined with great golf skills has enlightened several fans. With the growth in popularity, it is quite apparent that more investments need to be made in golfers. However, in a recent word from the Commissioner, it was stated that a docuseries is in the works, apart from the already planned $100 Million investment.

Starting next year’s season, the LPGA Tour’s prize money payout will total more than $100 million. Moreover, the Tour will pay its players stipends for traveling, since it is quite costly. Though the money measures have been taken care of, the LPGA and its top-level management have set their eyes on a new goal;  expanding the fanbase of the Tour.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Men’s Golf will have Netflix Docuseries, similar to Formula One’s Drive to Survive, where the fans will be given an insight into all the drama unfolding. However, the LPGA Commissioner, Mollie Marcoux Samaan, revealed that Women’s golf also has similar plans.

An LPGA Tour Docuseries?

Ahead of the ongoing CME Group Tour Championship, Samaan held a round table discussion with the media at the Tiburon Golf Club. She talked about the future of women’s golf, and also shared more insights on the $100 million payouts from next year. Nonetheless, she then discussed how she is interested in making a docuseries about the LPGA Tour.

The Commissioner further added, “So we are working internally and working with some external partners to think about how we achieve that either with an outside partner”. The ninth Commissioner of the Tour then ends by again elaborating how the struggles of the golfers need to be shared with the public.

I think our women are inspiring both with their talent on the golf course, but the life that they live out here, the challenges that they face … we need to tell the stories of the players as humans more effectively”, she ended. Though it is exciting to know the initiation, the end process is still going to take time.

The docuseries will help in promoting the talents of women’s golf which have been excellent in recent years, thanks to big names like Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, and Jin Young Ko, to name a few. Fans will be excited to see how their favorite golfer prepares for a game and what happens after an event. Though it will be a big step, it will hopefully result in the success of the LPGA Tour.
