Tiger Woods is arguably considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. But most people will remember the golfer for his work off the course. Woods always had the mind of a philanthropic. Back in 2006, Tiger pledged $25 million to open the Tiger Woods Learning Facility aimed at helping children. Moreover, former President, Bill Clinton, also graced the event along with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife, Maria Shriver, to congratulate the golfer on his great feat.

Woods started The Tiger Woods Foundation shortly after he turned pro. However years later, the 46-year-old finally decided to open a Learning Facility. Tiger donated the first $5 million to the project. He was also involved in starting a new PGA Tour event, the Deutsche Bank Championship outside Boston, which gave its net proceeds to his Foundation.

Tiger relied on 25 founding partners that range from Nike to Target to even Augusta National. With such investment and planning, it was quite evident that Tiger was going to have a mega event for its opening which would include the 42nd President of the United States.

Woods said, “This is by far the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. This is bigger than golf. This is bigger than anything I’ve done on the golf course. Because we will be able to shape lives.” Former President Bill Clinton also had some heartwarming words for Tiger. He said, “I’m impressed Tiger Woods decided to do this when he was 30 instead of when he was 60”.

The 42nd President praised Woods for helping the community at such a young age. “It’s hard to have great gifts and bring them to bear in the public eye under enormous pressure when you’re young,” Clinton said, then turning to Woods. Along with the learning facility, the street sign “Tiger Woods way” was also unveiled. The name was given to the driveway leading to the learning facility. The official address was given as “1 Tiger Woods Way”.

Despite 82 professional wins, which also include his 15 Major titles, Tiger wants to be remembered more for his work with children. He also referred to golf as “merely a vehicle” to help the needy through Tiger Woods Foundation. On the course or off the course, Tiger doesn’t fail to win the hearts of his fans.
