Ever since his pro debut in 2017, Bryson Dechambeau has been one of the most prominent names in the golf world. The 29-year-old is largely regarded for his scientifically driven style of golf. However, in addition to that, he has also been the talk of the town for his unmatched body transformation in the past couple of years.

Following his impressive 2018 run ending with 5 titles, DeChambeau opted to work on his considerably lean body. Working with complete diligence, the now LIV Golfer added a whopping 20 pounds of muscle mass in just about nine months. Months after making the addition, in 2020, he finally opened up about how the increased mass has helped him enhance his performance.

With a polished game and a bulked-up physique, DeChambeau headed to Abu Dhabi for the 2020 HSBC Championship. On the eve of the tournament, he indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, he elucidated the benefits of bulking in his game.

“The more mass you have, the more you are able to control that mass and stabilize and contract efficiently,” he started. “The overall more general stability you’re going to have when you go out in golf and you swing your golf club.”

During the time of the interview, DeChambeau had already added about 17 pounds of his total 20-pound muscle mass addition…an addition, that had started reflecting in his speed of strokes. Statistically, DeChambeau had already become a member of the 200mph+ hitting club.

Applying physics, a massive contribution to his powerful shots has been made by his increased body stability. Something which DeChambeau credited to his bulked-up physique.

Going ahead in the conversation, he said “I just feel like in any situation no matter what happens, you feel more grounded. More weight to me, about 17 more pounds, I feel like I’m groundable a lot more.”

Explaining further, he added, “I don’t slip around as much. In general, I feel healthier.”

The year 2020 proved to be another fruitful year for DeChambeau in terms of bulking. While people stepped into their places to safeguard themselves from COVID-19, DeChambeau on the other hand used the time with utmost diligence. Instead of sitting back and relaxing, he continued working on his muscle mass. The result? He went on to win the 2020 US Open later that year.
