While success in the professional meaning is usually quantified by the number of victories a golfer has had, this was not the case for Wyndham Clark. Clark’s recent win at Quail Hollow had much more profound meaning to him than just a title and prize money worth $3.6 million. Right when he won, there was one person beside him – his caddie and his friend, John Ellis.

Clark recently spoke about what the winning moment meant to him and his caddie. He also shared some deeper things from their journey together.

Wyndham Clark shares insights about his relationship with his caddie

Wyndham Clark recently appeared on the PGA Tour radio show, Gravy & The Sleeze. He spoke about his relationship with his caddie, and how the win was extra special.

Sharing about the winning moment and what Ellis said to him, the world no. 31 golfer said, “It’s kind of between John and I and something special to hold on to. So, I am gonna keep it between us. It was definitely nice things and very emotional.”

Speaking about their bond, Clark spoke, “We have gone through a lot in our lives, I lost my mom, he lost his dad and then we have been on this journey together, you know through all the highs and lows.” The two have been together on this journey for the last 5 seasons, and Ellis has seen all the success and failures of Clark with him.

The winning moment for Clark was definitely an emotional moment, and he was super overwhelmed: “I really wanted to cry a lot on 18, but I don’t think I’d have been able to do an interview,” he added.

After securing his win in Charlotte, Clark also earned his spot in the fourth major of the season, The Open.

This is not the first time Clark became emotional talking about his victory. He also remembered someone extremely close to his heart and that added to the emotions that he was feeling at that particular moment.

The official Instagram page of the PGA Tour shared a very beautiful animated video of a young golfer with his mom. In the background, Clark was speaking about how his mother played a vital role in his golfing journey.

He shared the story about how his mother used to write him notes that slowly and gradually became text messages. His mother always used to say one thing which is “Play Big” and it has become his mantra for life.
