The PGA Tour has been in a lot of trouble ever since the LIV Golf league came into existence. Greg Norman has taken away some of the best players from the PGA Tour with high-paying deals. However, some players are still loyal to PGA Tour, and one of them, who also won the Masters, Hideki Matsuyama, recently proved his loyalty towards the former tour amidst rumors.

PGA Tour loyalist Hideki Matsuyama takes a stand for the tour
Former masters champion Hideki Matsuyama recently took a bold stand in support of the PGA Tour. After winning the ZOZO Championship title in Japan, the golf professional confirmed his loyalty to the tour. During his interview at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, Matsuyama said, “I’m a member of the PGA Tour. Never been prouder, especially last week at the Presidents Cup. Yeah, I’m fully committed to the PGA Tour, I’m a member,”.

Rumors suggested that the golfer had plans to join the LIV Golf league. Reports also said that Matsuyama received a $400 million offer from LIV officials to have him onboard. Matsuyama was said to be “torn between money and his legacy” during the players meeting at the BMW Championship led by Tiger Woods. However, his recent statements support the fact that the player is fully dedicated to the PGA Tour.

It was not surprising to hear rumors about Matsuyama receiving such a huge offer from LIV Golf. Almost half of Japan tuned in to watch the golfer play during the ZOZO Championship. Moreover, Japan’s national alert system also sent out “congratulations” alerts after his final putt. The system is only used for emergencies and natural disasters, but Matsuyama’s victory forced the nation to make an exception!
The Presidents Cup incident of Matsuyama
The golf pro was on the final hole during the 2022 Presidents Cup and needed a single shot to achieve a perfect score. However, God had other plans for the golf star. Unfortunately, Matsuyama’s shot directly hit a Marshal above the knee. The golfer felt disappointed after his golf ball stopped due to such an incident. As a result, the ball diverted for around eight-nine yards to the left.
