Lydia Ko is undoubtedly one of the best talents on the LPGA Tour currently. She has provided her fans with great golf skills for the last few years. However, earlier when asked about retirement, the 25-year-old declared to retire by the age of 30, hoping to pursue a new career after golf. Nonetheless, ahead of the CME Group Tour Championship, Ko had a change of plans when it comes to retirement.

Lydia Ko caught everybody’s attention during the 2016 Summer Olympics, which saw her claim the silver medal in golf. From thereon, her journey to the top of the sport has been worth watching.

Albeit a lot more to provide to the sport of golf, fans and media have begun asking the 25-year-old about her plans for retirement. Much to everyone’s surprise, the South Korean-born golfer has an idea of when to call it quits.

Is Lydia Ko retiring after turning 30?

In a 2015 interview, Ko stated that she wishes to retire from golf at the age of 30 and start a career as a psychologist. However, seven years later, world number three has a change of plan.

“I don’t I think about it like on a daily basis”, said Lydia Ko during her CME Group Tour Championship. “I’m not looking and counting down to how many points but obviously coming up into this week, I’ve had people tell me about it”. However, she adds that she doesn’t wish to hear any more rumors about her retirement.

The two-time Major winner then talked about her win in Hawaii last year, which came after a win drought of 3 years, and how she continued despite the struggles faced in those years. Ko further added on she wishes to play golf until she has the passion and motivation to do so.

Ko said, “I don’t wanna tire myself out. When I feel like it is the time for me to retire, I will only know at that time. But, I don’t want to leave the game in regret of I should have stopped then rather than try and let keep going and going and lose passion for golf and I do it because I love it”.

Currently leading the CME Group Tour Championship after the third round, Ko has set her eyes on the record $2 million prize money. It depicts how she is currently at the epitome of women’s golf. Yet, people stop her in her tracks, to ask about her retirement plans, instead of enjoying her golf skills. Still only 25 years of age, the fans are about to witness the prime element of Lydia Ko.
