Golf icon Michelle Wie West isn’t exactly a football fanatic – she’d be the first to tell you she doesn’t “really care about football” that much. Her passions lie elsewhere, mainly in golf and her latest tennis fascination. But throw a celebrity into the mix, like Taylor Swift, and she’s suddenly all in (we will be, too). And that’s exactly what happened not once, but twice since last year.

The first time was when Swift rocked a custom piece from Wie West’s Wove collection (TNT, dubbed “Taylor ‘n Travis”) after the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win in January 2024. It all started when Wie West messaged Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, about creating a bespoke “upscale friendship bracelet” inspired by Swift’s signature beaded accessories.

The love fest continued when Kelce gifted Wie West a piece from his exclusive American Eagle x Tru Kolors collab this week. In a recent Instagram story, she shared a sneak peek, captioning it: “Can’t wait to rock! Whole line is so sick, thank youuuu @killatrav.” We can only imagine her reaction, which likely rivaled her popular “Oh my God!” moment she shared last year.

Such moments may be rare, but Wie West has often been open about them. Months after her first Swift moment, she shared in an interview: “I was tagged in something and it was Taylor Swift wearing my bracelet and I just started screaming. ‘Oh my god! Taylor Swift wore my bracelet!'” She even called it a “wild ride.” And that, we can attest, is what happened this week as well.

While Michelle Wie West’s experience is one-of-a-kind, golfer-celebrity crossovers aren’t uncommon. Just look at Tiger Woods‘s 2024 collaborations with actor Jada Pinkett Smith, 13-time NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade, and actor and comedian David Spade in “A Round with Tiger: Celebrity Playing Lessons.” Still, Wie West’s story remains uniquely special. However, often such interactions between these two worlds result in greater good for humanity.

The Drive Fore Kids Invitational is an annual celebrity charity golf tournament that tees off at Falmouth Country Club in Maine, with a mission to drive home funds for children’s health and cancer care in the community. This star-studded event brings together athletes, entertainers, and local celebrities to swing for a cause, supporting organizations like the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and the Dempsey Center.

With a focus on pediatric care, especially cancer services, the tournament has become a major fundraiser, making a tangible impact on the local community. And the numbers prove that much. The 2025 tournament, held from June 19-22, was a huge success, drawing a record-breaking roster of celebrity participants and raising over $200,000 for pediatric cancer care. Since its inception, the tournament has raised over $500,000,

Actor Carly Chaikin, known for her role in “Mr. Robot,” was among the familiar faces on the fairway, saying, “It’s so much fun being with everybody and being here for an amazing cause.” The 2025 edition’s diverse lineup included NHL stars TJ Oshie, Tyler Seguin, Tuukka Rask, and Bob Sweeney; NFL players Sterling Sharpe, Brian Hoyer, and Dwight Freeney; and actors Michael Pena and Carly Chaikin. And more.

Essentially, plenty of good comes out of such interactions between golfers and celebrities.
