Divorce can be hard for many individuals, especially when it’s done in massive publicity. The case settlement of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren is considered one of the biggest divorce cases in recent American history. And returning back to normal life from that level of animosity can be a challenge. Four years after their divorce, Nordegren graduated from Rollins College and gave a heartwarming speech about how she moved on from the 15-time Major winner.

Woods married Elin back in 2004 after being in a relationship for nearly three years. However, the marriage came crashing down when Woods’ alleged infidelity scandal became public. The couple divorced in 2010, as Nordegren received $100-$120 million in the settlement.

In 2014, four years after the divorce, the former Swedish model graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Thanks to her extraordinary 3.96 GPA, she received the Hamilton Holt Outstanding Senior Award and was allowed to give a speech.

Elin Nordegren shares what made her feel at peace following the divorce from Tiger Woods

In the 12-minute speech, Nordegren spoke about all the struggles she’s faced ever since she enrolled in Rollin’s College program back in 2005. She shed light on the journey from coming to America to graduating with a Psychology degree.

Elin said, “Today, nine years later, I’m a proud American and I have two beautiful children. But I’m no longer married!” She then added how her degree has helped her in coping with the loss of her marriage. “My Psychology and Law class helped me through some of the most challenging times in my life that involved legal matters”.

Nordegren then talked about how the divorce with Woods gave her a better understanding of not just the complex legal system, but “it also offered me a place of peace in the wild storm of my personal life,” she said. The former Swedish model ended by claiming the importance of education in her life.

“Education has been the only consistent part of my life the last nine years. And it has offered me comfort. Education is one thing that no one can take away from you.” Nordegren has made use of her education in Psychology. As per ‘The Sun’, last year, she had been working in the field of mental health.

Though both Tiger and Nordegren had an ugly divorce case, in recent years their bond as friends has only gotten stronger. Woods stated that the ex-couple has maintained their relationship for the sake of their two children. Perhaps many can learn from the Hall of Famer and the Psychologist.
