She had a great final round score of 63 (-9) and finished first overall with a score of 26-under 262. The golfer also finished the fourth day with an eagle and a total of seven birdies to secure the victory. She received the winner’s share of the $1.5 prize money. Well, the victory will undoubtedly inspire Wannasaen to play better in future tournaments. It was a pivotal week for the young star as the win may also change her career in a big way.
The win changed everything for Wannasaen
Since getting her LPGA Tour card, the Thai golfer has competed in numerous tournaments. But regrettably, she frequently lacked a robust form. In more than 75% of them, she didn’t make the cut. Only three events — including the Portland Classic — saw her get to the weekend action.
Wannasaen had missed her previous eight cuts.
But now the tables have turned. She not only took home her first championship, but she also made a big mark on LPGA history. She tied for the second-most birdies or eagles over 72 holes in LPGA history with 30 during last week’s victory. We do hope to see more of Wannasaen’s amazing game in the future. What do you think about the significant rise in her career earnings? Let us know in the comments.
