Former PGA Tour golfer faces some serious domestic abuse charges

According to the reports of the local outlets, the incident took place after 9:30 on Saturday evening in the 6800 block of Southwest 70th Avenue in the Glenvar Heights area. The place of the occurrence so happened to be the home of Former PGA Tour Pro, Erik Compton and his wife Barbara Compton.

While the duo got married back in 2008, both Barbara and Erik were facing certain issues in their relationship, per sources. As reported by the Miami-Dade Police Department, this was the very reason that caused a verbal argument to break out between the two on Saturday. And in no time, the situation escalated quickly as Barbara Compton took out her mobile phone and started recording.

This allegedly resulted in Compton taking away the phone from his wife and throwing it into the backyard swimming pool as he tossed her into a wall nearby. Consequently, this was reported by Nuclr Golf on X through a tweet. The account said that the golfer has been “arrested and booked into jail for a domestic dispute at their Miami home“.

Additionally, the 2011 Mexico Open winner has been charged with a misdemeanor violence charge and a second-degree felony charge of strong-armed robbery. While the sources mentioned this powerful allegation against the golfer, the local authorities provided some more details regarding the happenings.

When the Florida native reportedly threw his wife against the wall, the action left small bruises on her left arm. The reports also revealed that Barbara Compton left the estate right after and drove to her friend’s house.

From her friend’s residence, she called the police and reported the incident. Till now, Compton has declined to speak with the police about the serious charges as he has invoked his right to an attorney.
