The next leg of the FedEx Cup is just around the corner, and players are busy practicing their strokes at Olympia Field’s North Course. The field of 50 golfers is set for the BMW Championship, as golfers are set to compete for their pride, honor, and a cut of the $20 million prize purse. Finishing at No. 3 on the FedEx Cup rankings and the St. Jude Championship, Rory McIlroy was seen doing the same on the golf course in hopes of a better finish and lifting the FedEx Cup.

Just like every golfer who follows a different process before a tournament, McIlroy also engages in a similar act as he plays more golf before such events. But he was seen breaking his habit as the Irish golfer, in a surprise of sorts, took a break to talk to a very special person on the phone, leaving many in the golf community touched.

Rory had always been a fan favorite among many golf enthusiasts and their families. But when the family in question is his own, he would undoubtedly be the first golfer on their list to win the tournament. And it came to be so, as the Irishman’s family was seen calling him to show their love for the golfer.

A video of the professional was uploaded on Twitter, which showed the 34-year-old teeing off in a practice round. He was interrupted by a phone call from his wife Erica and daughter Poppy, after which McIlroy hurried off to talk to them. Handing over the club to his looper, Harry Diamond, he was seen cheerfully conversing with his daughter as they walked off to the ball.

McIlroy then went ahead to inquire about her day as he asked about her school. “Poppy, not everyone must have knew you were my daughter at school today,” said the loving father as he continued the conversation with her about her day at school.

The trio was seen as one happy family as the Irishman walked off into the course to the ball while talking on the phone with his family. The call by the golfer’s family to express their love ahead of the FedEx Cup event would indubitably prove to be a boost to the player’s confidence.

McIlroy’s family time warms the hearts of many
