Things didn’t turn out well for the Americans this weekend. Reflecting on the outcomes, Johnson admitted in an interview that “it’s not them. It’s on me. Maybe some poor decisions. I can reflect at some point. I don’t have any idea yet. It’s not about those 12 guys. They played so hard for each other and played so hard for our country.”

Initially, the US captain’s pick made waves in the golfing community, pointing out the selection of Justin Thomas over other players. Then people questioned Johnson’s leadership all week during the Ryder Cup. Team USA was clearly struggling by Friday itself. Johnson has accepted responsibility for Team USA’s setback in the 2023 Ryder Cup, marking another instance of the Americans not securing a win overseas. These instances have led fans to believe that in the next Ryder Cup perhaps it’s for a new leader, and who better than John Daly?

A recent post on social media went viral wherein John Daly was donning the American flag print on his pants and his signature cigarette in his mouth. The post questioned fans if they would want to see Long John as a USA Ryder Cup captain.

John Daly, despite his remarkable achievements, has one significant omission that stands out in his career: he’s never been part of a Ryder Cup team. Remarkably, Daly is one of the only golfers with multiple major titles to have never participated in the Ryder Cup. And hence, the thought of him finally being recognized at the international event had many fans running wild!

Daly, as Ryder Cup captain, What do fans think?

Daly has always been seen as an unconventional figure in the golf world. It was particularly in 1991 that, despite winning the PGA Championship, a premier event organized by the PGA of America that also oversees the Ryder Cup, he wasn’t chosen. Daly particularly highlighted that year and 2004 as his most significant oversights. During those two years, he was at the top of his game, and he genuinely believed he could have been an asset to the U.S. team. However, it was not meant to be. Will 2025 be different, though? Let’s see what fans think.

Many fans agreed that Daly would be more than an asset as a captain for the Ryder Cup team.

All the fans weren’t on the same page, though; some disagreed with those who thought he would be a good fit as a captain, claiming that the team would certainly be better off without Daly.
