Anthony Kim’s Tattoos: Meaning Behind LIV Golf Pro’s Ink-Work Explored

A lot has changed in Anthony Kim’s life in the past 12 years. The potential Hall of Famer walked away from greens in 2012. Kim, famous for his shoulder-length hair, now rocks a ponytail. Kim also has a daughter; he was wearing a white tee with ‘Girl Dad’ written on it. The three-time PGA Tour winner inked a full-sleeve tattoo sometime between 2012 and 2016.
Tattoos are not uncommon in the world of professional golf. Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler have more than one. Most recently, Matthieu Pavon’s beautiful tattoo came to the limelight after his clutch win at the Farmers Insurance Open. But unlike his PGA Tour counterparts, the LIV Golf pro’s tattoo has been wrapped in secrecy.
What do we know about Anthony Kim’s tattoo?

Kim was first spotted with a tattoo around 2016. Dr. Brian Mann posed with Anthony Kim in a pet store. That was also the first time the world had seen Kim since his 2012 withdrawal from the media spotlight. Naturally, the full-sleeve tattoo caught everyone’s attention.

It was perhaps fitting enough that a dog face was inked on his sleeve. Whether Kim has a pet or not is yet unknown. But visiting a pet store with a dog tattoo points towards a ‘yes’ to that question. Aside from the dog face, Kim’s arm is inked with other designs as well.

But like his time after the 2012 Wells Fargo withdrawal, Kim hasn’t revealed anything about his tattoos either. After 2016, the three-time PGA Tour winner, who set a birdie record in August 2010, was seen once again in 2021. His swing coach, Adam Schriber, posted a picture with Kim hinting at a potential return.
While the details about his tattoos remain secrecy, what we do know is that in 2021, PIF officials were eying Kim to be included in their initial roster. Why that move didn’t materialize is anyone’s guess. But here is what we know about how it came to be in 2024.

Details of Kim’s contract come to the forefront
LIVGolf Updates first revealed some insights into Kim’s contract. Apparently, the comeback hero was set to earn around $5–7.5 million upfront in contract sums. Later, LIV Golf posted on their official account that Kim had been signed as a wildcard entrant for this season. How that’ll figure into the season-ending team championship is yet unclear. Nevertheless, the 38-year-old has ten events he can play as an individual player without team allegiance.

If the LIV Golf debutant performs well, he has a chance to earn a spot on the 2025 roster as well. Without that, a guaranteed $50,000 awaits him at future events, even if he finishes last on the individual leaderboard. In the promotional video, Anthony Kim said, “I’ll tell my story when it’s the right time, but right now I’ll focus on golf.” Perhaps we will get to know more about his tattoos when Kim sits down for a press conference sometime in the near future.
