The LPGA Tour is organizing four of its fall season tournaments in Asia. This week, the tour moves to the LPGA Maybank Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. Several renowned names like Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, and others are playing in the tournament. But the $3 million event is taking place amid disruptive weather conditions at the location.

Due to the unsettling weather, some noted players, like Nelly Korda, are struggling with their gameplay. But it seems LPGA prodigy Rose Zhang has her eyes set on the trophy.

The wonder girl, Rose Zhang, fixates her eyes on the next LPGA title

Rose Zhang has been exceptionally wonderful on the greens since she turned professional in 2023. She had four top-10 finishes in tournaments this year including at the Women’s PGA Championship, the US Women’s Open, and the Amundi Evian Championship.

The 20-year-old also had an LPGA win in her debut year at the Mizuho Americas Open. She even got selected for the American Solheim Cup squad in the same year. The streak of her exceptional gameplay doesn’t stop, and she aims for her next LPGA title in Kuala Lumpur.

She is thriving over Nelly Korda on the LPGA leaderboard as well. After two rounds, Zhang sits in second place. But Korda has a much lower place at T20. As far as Zhang’s second-round performance is concerned, she made seven birdies and tied a score of 68 at the end of the round.

Seemingly, the expert hands of Nelly Korda are lagging behind the young golfer. Nelly had five birdies in round two, and she secured a score of 69. Apart from them, let’s take a look at the performance of the star golfer who currently sits atop the leaderboard.

Thidapa Suwannapura’s performance in the Maybank Championship so far

While most of the experienced players are having trouble on the muddy course, Thailand-based golfer Thidapa ‘Jasmine’ Suwannapura seems unbothered by the rain. She is currently leading the game. In the opening round of the event, she bagged seven birdies on her scorecard. Added to that, she also made a successful eagle on hole 14, thus, sealing a score of 63 at the end.

Moving on to her next round, she made five birdies. But the bogeys on holes one and three landed her a score of 69. The golfer is doing pretty well; now it is time to see if she can bag the trophy.
