Former 4Aces star gets honest about taking down his old team

It was only last year that Talor Gooch had immense success with his former team, 4Aces GC. Led by Dustin Johnson, the team even won the 2022 LIV Golf Team Championship at Trump National, where Doral Miamand walked away with the $16 million prize!

But despite having had positive results with the team, Gooch took a tough decision in his career and left his former clan to join Rangegoats GC. He made this decision earlier this year, around the month of February. Since then, 4Aces GC has just had one individual triumph at LIV Golf Tulsa by captain Dustin Johnson.

Now, ahead of LIV Golf Chicago, Gooch makes his intentions clear about leading his new team to victory. In an interview, speaking of Dustin Johnson and the 4Aces, he said, “They’re obviously still the best team, you know, in the league right now. And so it’d be nice for the range goats, for us to kind of, you know, get back in the swing of things and overtake the aces and to, you know, in the season with Team Championship… that’s the goal.”

Furthermore, he added that he wasn’t alone in this fight; the entire team had the same goal. “That’s what we’re working towards every week,” he stated. “So hopefully, hopefully, we can make it happen.”

Gooch’s words make it clear that even though he and the remaining RangeGoats plan to put up a fight, the 4 Aces are the cream of the crop. So why, then, did he leave them? Well, it was all because of a friend!

Who was the reason Gooch left Dustin Johnson behind?

Talor Gooch saw success with his former clan, but he left the squad earlier this year. When the matter was dug deeper into, it came to light that he did it for friendship. Yes, Gooch wanted to be on the same team as his buddy Harold Varner III. “You know, if you ever had a chance to in professional sports to go and team up with one of your best buddies, you’re gonna jump at that,” he said in the interview.

In addition to that, the three-time LIV Golf winner also had another reason—Bubba Watson! Having idolized the golf great, Gooch could not resist the opportunity to play alongside him too. “They [the RangeGoats] have a chance to play with Bubba. I mean, it was, you know, something that I couldn’t pass up.”
