As Nelly Korda Makes Her Met Gala Debut, Exploring Every Other Golfer Who Graced The Popular Stage

This year, Nelly Korda seems to be creating history wherever she goes. Not long ago, she made her Met Gala debut, becoming the only LPGA Tour golfer to do so. The 13-time LPGA Tour winner wore Oscar de la Renta’s red poppy applique dress from fall 2024 to go with this year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Her red carpet appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art took the golf silo by storm.

The fans of the golfer went head over heels for her gorgeous look and even declared her the hottest golfer that’s ever lived.” The LPGA pro even got a nod of approval from the Golf Diva—Paige Spiranac as well. The Met Gala is a star-studded affair and many celebrated athletes have attended the event, including Tom Brady, Serena Williams, and Stephen Curry. Now the question that arises is: which golfer had the opportunity to walk the steps of the Met?

The only other golfer to grace the Met Gala red carpet was none other than Tiger Woods. Nearly a decade ago, Mr.T made his Met Gala debut in 2013 alongside his then-girlfriend and ski racer, Lindsey Vonn. The theme for the 2013 Met Gala was punk rock but the two decided to keep it simple, as Woods went with a skinny-tie Tuxedo and Vonn wore a cream-colored floor-length gown with two sheer panels on the sides.

Woods’s first rodeo at the Met Ball was just as he must have anticipated but not for long. The night took an embarrassing turn at the After Party. As per US Weekly, Woods and Vonn joined other celebrities at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel. Reportedly, Woods had a little too much to drink and according to an onlooker, he “looked uncomfortable during the After Party.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner did shake a leg on the dance floor. When the time came to return home, Tiger Woods ended up tumbling down the stairs and falling on his face. The night came to an end for the couple at 2 a.m. Soon after his Met Gala appearance, Woods shifted his focus to the 2013 PGA Championship.

Tiger Woods used to be in the media spotlight for his golf prowess and off-course activities. Over the years, Woods has drastically reduced his media appearances. To the point that he is now mostly spotted at golf events, either caddying for his son Charlie or competing in golfing events. So far this season, Tiger Woods has only played in two events, one of which he had to withdraw from. Fans are eagerly waiting to see more gameplay from the 15-time major winner.

Tiger Woods’s partner in TGL and the founding investor of Los Angeles Golf Club in the innovative league were seen wearing beautiful outfits at the Met Gala. The younger Williams sister went for a metallic gold, designed by Balenciaga, and Venus Williams wore a strapless dress by Marc Jacobs, which had a sheer panel and mirrored paillettes on it.

Last year, Serena Williams revealed her baby bump when she was pregnant with her second child, Adira River Ohanian, and was with her husband, Alex Ohanian. This year, the 23-time grand slam winner chose to walk the red carpet alone. The two sisters are the embodiment of women’s empowerment, and even at the Met Gala, the two were the most successful olympiads to be present.
