Nelly Korda might have had a winless 2023 season but the golfer has always returned stronger from the lowest points. In 2021, Korda was on top of her game. She had won four events and reached the No. 1 spot on the Women’s World Golf Ranking.

However, before clinching her two consecutive victories, Korda went through a hard time. In those moments, it was her father who supported her in getting back. The nostalgic story of her “boot camp” with Petr Korda resurfaced as the duo prepares for their appearance at the PNC Championship.

Nelly Korda’s bounce back after a tragic loss

At the start of the 2021 season, she had a solo third finish at the Diamond Resort Tournament of Champions and the next week she won the Gainbridge LPGA. Korda consistently finished under the top 30 after that.

However, as the U.S. Women’s Open approached, the now 8x LPGA winner’s nerves were higher than ever. She always wanted to play better at the major. Soon after, she left disappointed as she failed to make the cut. While talking on the Fairgame Golf podcast, Korda says she was feeling “distraught” and that “golf was affecting me even off the golf course”.

The 1x major champion wanted to get those feelings off, and she soon landed home. To lighten her burden, Nelly’s father, Petr Korda, prepared a boot camp for her. Korda narrates that the BootCamp “was really great” and “took the pressure off of” her. Moreover, Korda’s then caddie visited her for the boot camp.

Korda told him that she wanted “to take one step at a time”. Well, she did exactly that. Korda won the Meijer LPGA Classic and then won her first major at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The 2021 season was gold for Korda as she got her rhythm back and performed better than ever. Now, Petr and Nelly are ready to make their third appearance at the annual PNC Championship looking for a sweet Christmas from the event.

Nelly Korda to be joined by LPGA Legend

The PNC Championship is scheduled for mid-December, from the 14th to the 17th of the month. As of now, eight teams have been confirmed to play in the event. Nelly Korda, Annika Sörenstam, Stewart Cink, Justin Thomas, David Duval, Bernhard Langer, and John Daly.

The 20-team roster of the PNC Championship is still missing a lot of names. The event will confirm teams before the commencement of the event. However, the golf world is expecting Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods to make their third appearance.

Woods is playing at the Hero World Challenge in the coming weeks, and the expectation of seeing at the championship has increased in the masses. There has been no confirmation. However, the duo’s arrival looks more plausible than ever.
