As the Open Championship Inches Towards Its Last Moments, Here’s a Look at the Young 23-Year-Old Who Is Rising Up the PGA Tour Ladder

As the last major of the PGA Tour, the Open Championship is in its conclusive last moments today, there is another PGA Tour event that would be giving out its winner’s name as verdict as well. And the event is the Barracuda Championship, taking place at the Tahoe Moutain’s Club Old Greenwood in Truckee, California from the 20th to the 23rd of July, 2023. 

Now, this year the Honda Classic 4th place holder, Ryan Gerard, has also participated in this event, and his recent golfing exhibition has only got him crawling upward in the PGA Tour ladder. Let’s see what helped Gerard to turn his golf career in an upward trajectory recently!

Ryan Gerard who turned pro recently last year, made a splash, being a first-timer in the 2023 season of the PGA Tour.  He had a promising finish in the Honda Classic where he ended up in 4th position, and also this was the fifth event where he had the top 10 best finishes. His final score was 10 under, and this Korn Ferry Tour rookie finally got qualified for the Puerto Rico Open. 

Now besides this, his Barracuda performance has been stellar and remarkable as well. After round two, he ended up at 30 points and was leading the leaderboard of Barracuda Championship 2023. This 23-year-old stunned many by taking this mighty lead and this came forth by carding 16 birdies and two late bogeys on the previous Thursday. Later after scoring a birdie on the 13th hole of Tahoe Mountain’s Club Old Greenwood, his total score stands at 33 after round 3, next to Patrick Rodgers.

In order to sing along with this uprising star’s achievements, a tweet has also been shared by the PGA Tour with a caption elucidating his chances of winning the Barracuda Championship:

“151 days ago, Ryan Gerard Monday qualified for @TheHondaClassic and finished in 4th. It changed his career and ultimately led to him earning special temporary membership. He chases the first win of his career tomorrow from the final group @CudaChamp.”

The most remarkable of all was his February Honda Classic performance where he finished at T4. Followed by the Puerto Rico Open where he secured a 11th position and had a final score of 12under. Then he also participated in some of the significant PGA Tour events like the US Open, Rocket Mortgage Classic, and John Deere Classic, where he ended up at T56, T56, and T26 respectively.

Thus, it is to see if he wins today’s game at the Barracuda Championship and adds up a winner’s trophy to his name.
