After 7 months of unending patience, the Woods stances will finally see their star player playing once again. After the 2023 Masters at Augusta National, Tiger Woods had been recovering off the course, though making a few appearances here and there.

However, now the 82-time PGA Tour champion will make a ‘roaring’ comeback, having recovered from his plantar fasciitis surgery earlier this year. The legendary golfer is set to play at the Hero World Challenge. Although curiosity has sparked one question among the fans, who will be the potential Caddie Woods? Here are the five people you may see carrying his bag.

1. Joe LaCava: Tiger Woods and LaCava have been together since 2011. They’ve won 11 PGA Tour events and the 2019 Masters as a pair. However, Woods had to bid farewell to LaCava, as his foreseen future was uncertain. After Woods’s agreement, LaCava moved to Patrick Cantlay’s bag.

Since then, the senior caddie has been accompanying the World No. 5. Although one noticeable factor is that Cantlay is not playing at the 2023 Hero World Challenge or at any other events for the period of the event, there are greater chances of Woods going back to his loyal caddie for this event, as he may be available and ready to take on the challenge.

2. Steve Williams: The man who was with Woods for the majority of his career victories. Williams had joined Woods in 1999 and won 63 PGA Tour titles and 13 majors. Woods won almost all the major events with Williams. Even though Williams had retired from caddying and there were a few misunderstandings between the two, he may come out to help Woods as he did for Adam Scott for the 2023 Masters.

Amid trying to help Scott grab a win in April, Williams even clarified that all was well between him and Woods. Hence, the possibility of seeing one of the best golfer-caddie duos is perhaps not as low as many would believe!

3. Rob McNamara: An integral part of Team Woods, McNamara is the vice president of TGR Ventures. Also, he served as a coach for Woods in 2019. McNamara and Woods have known each other since junior golf days and have been part of each other’s lives for decades now. In an interview with GOLFTV, Woods estimated that they have played 500 games together and said, He knows my game.” Given these stats of the two and their close bond, it is certainly possible that the duo might grace the greens if Woods finds no professional caddie.

4. Joseph LaCava Jr.: The son of Joe LaCava, Jr., found his maiden victory while being in Steve Stricker’s bag earlier this year. They won the Regions Traditions on PGA Tour Champions in May 2023. Moreover, Jr. LaCava has previously been a looper for the Woods family. He caddied for Charlie Woods for the 2021 PNC Championship, while his father caddied for Woods. This time, he may get a chance to work with Woods Sr., and with it, add another big name to the list of golfers he’s held the bag for.

5. Charlie Woods: Last but not least, Woods Jr.’s name has been going around in the golf world as the potential caddie for his father. It is the assumption that since Woods enjoys playing alongside Charlie, he may just appoint him as his caddie this week. The 15-time major winner may also want to teach the 14-year-old a few things and train him before he becomes a professional golfer, and what better way than during a pro event? Tiger has been actively caddying for Charlie at his junior events this year, so the chances are that their roles may just get reversed.
