Legendary golfer, Tiger Woods, has left his mark so deep in the golf world that today, we use him as an example of greatness. Young golfers have set their aim to reach the level of Woods. However, it is not just golf where the pro golfer is an icon, but tennis. Srdjan Djokovic says his son Novak Djokovic is the new Woods of the tennis world. But what made him place the Hall of Fame golfer and 2023 Australian Open winner at the same level?

Is Novak Djokovic the new Tiger Woods of tennis?

A well-known author, Vicki Reese, once said, “behind every child who believes in him or herself is a parent who believed first.” Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, has proved this quote to be true on many occasions. He was the first to recognize his son’s potential at an early age, believed in him, and guide him through the path to success. In the same way, Djokovic’s father is the biggest fan of his son and his tennis skills. They published his latest statement in the column of Croatian media Sportske Novosti in 2021.

Srdjan put forward his views about his son’s tennis level and compared it to the greats of different sports. He said, “his rivals are no longer Federer and Nadal, but he has to be compared to Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.” This shows his confidence in his son, the same way that Sr. Woods had for his son, who is a 15 time major championship winner.

To add more confidence in his son, Sr. Djokovic said, “He is still the best tennis player in the world and the one of the greatest sportsmen in history.” He believes that the number one singles tennis player, like Tiger Woods, has many years in his career. Djokovic will not retire or give up on his career until he masters every skill of an outstanding tennis player. He is not titled the GOAT yet, but looking at his performance at the Australian Open and his father’s confidence, he is not far away from the title. And hopefully, Woods is also close to another major win.

What is next for Woods?

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers of all time, with an impressive 82 PGA Tour victories. However, he has faced significant challenges recently, including a near-fatal car accident in February 2021 that left him with serious injuries, including multiple leg fractures and a shattered ankle. As a result of the accident, Woods had to take a break from golf to focus on his recovery. While he was expected to make a comeback at the Hero World Challenge on December 2022, he was forced to withdraw due to a condition called plantar fasciitis. After all these setbacks, Woods remained committed to the sport and continued to work on his game. Now, Woods is ready to return to competitive golf and will make his comeback at the Genesis Invitational in February 2023. Fans worldwide are excited to see him back in action and eager to witness his extraordinary skills on the golf course again.
Overall, despite the challenges and setbacks, Woods remains a beloved and highly respected figure in the world of golf.
