To the new golf fans, Greg Norman might be just the LIV Golf CEO, whom many PGA Tour loyalists hate. However, in reality, he is much more than that. The Great White Shark was considered one of the best golfers of the era. He even won 88 championship titles worldwide to prove his worth. Moreover, he is a proud Australian and was never afraid to express his feelings when someone tried to sabotage his country’s name.

“I don’t care about the individuals themselves,” Norman said about the two Australian tennis professionals for their controversial behaviors. “But when you’re carrying the Australian flag, you don’t represent your country like an idiot,” he continued. “You represent the country like the country wants to be represented.”

The allegations led Greg Norman riled up. “They have said some stupid things and acted stupidly,” he didn’t even try to hide his anger when he talked about the tennis players’ actions.

Notably, Norman has seen and known many legendary players across all sports since he is a professional athlete himself. This includes Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic from the tennis world and Jack NicklausBen Hogan, and Arnold Palmer from the golf world.

Although he didn’t mention it in the 2015 interview, the Shark also knew the 18-time grand slam champion, Chris Evert, as he was once married to her. Nonetheless, he wished Kyrgios and Tomic find success in their respective careers. “Because at the end of the day, they will be humbled very quickly,” he explained.

Norman never played the same sport as Kyrgios and Tomic. However, as a professional athlete, he understands what the young players went through. The 2-time major champion even offered to “sit down with them” to have a one-on-one talk to make them realize their responsibilities.

“They have to make some changes,” he finally added, “and some sacrifices.”
