Five-time Green Jacket winner, Tiger Woods, and tennis sensation, Roger Federer, are part of it, and there’s no surprise to it. Woods has earned it with his legacy and contribution to game of Golf.. And for the Tennis star, in 2004, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranked him as world No. 1 for 310 weeks.

Woods’ and Federer’s friendship started when Woods told in an interview that he likes to watch Tennis, and he loves watching Federer play. So when they finally ran into each other, there is a possibility that Woods was star-struck.

What happened between Tiger Woods and Roger Federer

In an interview with TIMES, Woods shared an experience he had with Federer. It was 2006, a couple of weeks before the U.S. Open Tennis tournament. Federer called Woods over the phone and invited him to the final as his guest. Woods agreed but also was quite puzzled. He wondered if there were still six matches left to reach the final. And he wondered why was he inviting him so soon? He went on to ask Federer the same.

Woods said to him over the phone, “I said, ‘Great, but don’t you have to win six matches to get to the final?”

Wasn’t that a stupid question by Woods? The Swiss Tennis star never fails to defeat his competitor. And he did the same during his third open. Despite the question from Woods, Federer was excited for semis matches as Woods was to come for the finals. He told TIME they talked for 15 mins and Woods agreed to come. During the game, as expected, Federer defeated Andy Roddick. Federer also said that Woods was enjoying the match and was pumped. Federer was thankful for Woods’ gesture.
