Mardy Fish reached the pinnacle of his professional tennis career, achieving a world ranking of No. 7. Additionally, he has proven to be quite adept at golf, earning accolades from none other than golf legend Jack Nicklaus, who regards him as the top amateur golfer he has played with, and speaks highly of his skills. Mardy is also known as a non-golfer golfer in the golf community.
The retired tennis pro was also lauded by LPGA legend, Annika Sorenstam after they played together in an event. She said that she had so much fun playing with him.
Fish recently made an appearance on Michelle Wie West’s podcast and disclosed something that has bothered him about the golf world for some time.

Mardy Fish’s remarks on the treatment he has received from the golf community
During his recent appearance on the podcast, Golf, Mostly, Fish was asked about how he got into golf. He said that he was always into three sports; tennis, golf, and baseball. As a child, his mom would tie a ball with a string to the ceiling and he would hit the ball with a golf club or a baseball bat. He then continued to inform that he has a dominant right hand and a dominant left leg.

He then continued and said that he would have been a right-handed golfer because it “would be a lot easier to get clubs, which is frustrating.” He mentioned that left-handed players are not treated very well in golf. “We’re not treated very well. We’re very underappreciated. As people and humans.”

He then shared an anecdote from his visit to LA Golf Studios that made him feel utterly disrespected. “We walked in, we’re at the LA golf studios and we walked in and they don’t have any lefty putters. I mean, the disrespect is just, I mean, it’s incredible.”

Mardy Fish’s PGA Tour debut
Fish became the first player to have played for an ATP event and a PGA Tour event when he debuted at the 3M Open in Minnesota in 2022. He competed in the event on a sponsor exemption. His playing the event, marked not only his Tour debut, but also marked the Association of Tennis Professionals’ debut on the stage.
Fish marked the Tennis-Golf history with his participation. Although, he failed to make the cut in Minnesota.
