Over the years, John Daly has positioned himself as a prominent name in the golf world. However, his prominence hasn’t just been a result of his golf performance. Instead, it has also been an amalgamation of his off-the-course ideology. A man with a generous and giving personality from the start, Daly has been a firm believer in making golf a sport that is accessible to all.

Scrolling through the years, the former PGA and the Open Champion isn’t new to interviews. Ever since tuning pro in 1987, Daly has been one of those players with amazing interviews. Walking down memory lane, in 2003, Daly, while conversing with a media house, opened up about his will to transform golf into an accessible sport.

John Daly hopes to see the introduction of public golf courses

A prominent name by 2003, Daly was well versed in the financial commitment required to play golf. However, coming from a middle-class household, he was also well versed in the grind for a not-so-privileged individual wanting to play the sport. Considering the contradicting conditions, Daly put out his appeal for the need for public golf courses.

Apart from being a golfing legend, Daly was also a golf course architect. Owner of a golf course designing company, it goes without saying that he was well versed in the financial commitment needed to design a golf course; knowledge, that also helped him in emphasizing his public golf course appeal further.

Adding to his appeal, he further said, “Nowadays you can build a public one just as nice as a country club and charge a lot less.”
