The 2026 Bank of Utah Championship is underway from October 1 to October 4, 2026, at Black Desert Resort. Played at the Tom Weiskopf- and Phil Smith-designed course, the inaugural edition in 2024 featured a $7.5 million purse, but it dropped by $1.5 million last year. This year, it features the same purse as in 2025. As the 120-player field battles through four rounds in Ivins, Utah, the gap between finishing near the top and settling for a lower position can translate into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What else is on the line at Black Desert Resort?
The financial and other benefits at the Utah event go well beyond the winner’s check. With players also chasing FedExCup points, Tour status, and valuable opportunities for the season ahead, every position on the leaderboard carries financial consequences.
A total of 500 FedExCup Fall points are up for grabs at the Bank of Utah Championship. Like the prize money, these points will be distributed among those who make the cut, based on where they finish on the leaderboard after all four rounds. While these points don’t offer any immediate financial reward, they can be far more beneficial in the long run.
At the end of the Fall Series, those in the top 100 of the FedExCup Fall standings will get full exempt PGA Tour status. This means they can play in all events next year and have the opportunity to make more money. Those who finish between 101 and 125 get conditional status, which means they can still play many events to earn official money. These FedExCup Fall points will certainly help make a lot of changes in the final standings.
Besides the FedExCup Fall points, golfers who make the cut will also earn OWGR points. The OWGR has rated the field strength at 181.36109. These points will again be distributed among the golfers who play at the weekend. Here, the OWGR projects that the winner will earn 31.19278 points (17.20%). The runner-up gets 18.71567 points, and the third-place finisher receives 12.47711 points.
The OWGR has noted that the points breakdown is an estimate based on the field’s strength. However, the final amount could differ.
Headliners at the Bank of Utah Championship 2026
Many elites are playing at Black Desert Resort. One is Utah native Tony Finau. The six-time PGA Tour winner last won an event in 2024. He switched to a hockey-like putter at the Biltmore Championship to get back in the winner’s circle. Speaking ahead of the Bank of Utah Championship, he said that he would stick with the new putter. More than the win, he would want to play good golf and earn some FedExCup Fall points because he is currently in 100th position in the standings.
Defending champion Michael Brennan is another golfer to watch this week. He broke through as a sponsor exemption at last year’s edition and won the event to secure a PGA Tour card. The American professional then won the Wyndham Championship this year. Now, he will be looking to add another win to his resume.
The pre-tournament favorite, Jackson Koivun, also has a strong track record. Previously the No. 1 amateur, Koivun turned professional at the 2026 John Deere Classic. He then went on to win the 2026 3M Open, his third start as a professional. The 21-year-old won the event despite the World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler chasing him aggressively on the final day. His skills and 3M Open win also earned him a spot on the American team for the Presidents Cup.
Other elites to watch include Max Homa, Billy Horschel, Lucas Glover, and Nick Taylor. All of them are multiple PGA Tour winners facing declining form. However, one good week is all they need to get back on the winning streak.
The Bank of Utah Championship 2026 offers much more than a $6 million prize pool. The $1.08 million winner’s payout, 500 FedExCup Fall points, and valuable OWGR points give players plenty of reasons to push for every position at Black Desert Resort.
