If Bernhard Langer got a penny for every time he was accused of cheating, he would be one of the wealthiest people, especially after the Chubbs Classic 2023. Despite registering the 45th win on the PGA Tour, the 65-year-old golfer receives more hate than praise. It started when a Twitter user caught him cheating at the Tiburon Golf Course. However, it’s been a week since he won the event and became the headlines. But the cheating accusations have not ended yet. In fact, despite praises, the golf fans are not ready to be part of his latest celebrations.
Bernhard Langer will have to earn the trust again
It was only a few days back when it all started. The golf fans called him anchor and made him sit on the throne of cheating. And now, his problems do not seem to end any soon as more criticism has piled up. The official Twitter account of Golf Digest posted “impressive” praise for Langer. They pointed out that the senior pro has won 40 titles in the span of 45 years of his professional career. The German senior pro won the Chubb Classic in 2022, which was his fourth record-breaking victory. When he was 64 years, five months, and 23 days old, he set the record for the oldest victor on the PGA Tour Champions.

However, golf fans beg to differ. They do not seem very impressed with his professional record pointed out by the tweet. Instead of congratulating him or becoming part of his victory, fans tend to give him the title of “Golf’s original Anchorman.” Except for one praise, the comments were quite sarcastic and pessimistic. Here are a few of the fans’ reactions that might make you sad for the senior pro.
Wow. Only didn’t win when some other guy was steamrolling his opponents.

When a Twitter user first pointed out the anchoring by Langer, fans believed his titles should be stripped off. And with the recent reactions of the fans, it seems like they still have no respect for him. He made a 14-1b anchor point by the forearm, which landed him in trouble. The golf world was busy discussing whether he cheated and put forward their viewpoints. But in the end, fans’ anger crowned him and called him out for anchoring.
