PGA Tour star Jordan Spieth had a disappointing Wells Fargo campaign. The three-time major championship winner shot seven-over par in his opening two rounds, which threw him out of contention for the weekend this week.

But amidst the gloom, there was also jubilation over Spieth’s dramatic moves on the course. The 29-year-old made an admirable move to save himself from further trouble, but it came at a cost, too!

The incident occurred during the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship, where a dismayed Spieth faced a tricky shot. Already off to a poor start following his one-over par round on Thursday, the golfer wasn’t able to turn the corner, carding bogeys again in the following round.

But one of his shots required all the skill Spieth could muster. After the ball landed near the water hazard, the 29-year-old had to go down the lake on his barefoot leg to get a grip on his standing.

Amid rising cheers, Spieth hit a brilliant shot to spin the ball toward the hole. Evidently, fans were left in awe of his stupendous shot, which garnered several comments from netizens. “What a touch! Stubbed the ball for max spin to avoid the water on the other side. JS’s short game is magical,” a user said.

Despite securing a number of top-10 finishes this season, victory has somehow eluded Spieth this year. The 2015 Masters winner has come tantalizingly close to wins recently, especially in the RBC Heritage, where he lost in a playoff battle.

Despite an early rise to fame, where he clinched wins on the go, the former World No. 1 hasn’t lived up to fans’ expectations. But perhaps that can change this month at the PGA Championship.
