Max Homa entered the US Open with high hopes. The golfer’s expectations, however, were badly crushed when he was unable to make the cut yesterday. Despite his best attempts, his dream of winning a major championship remains beyond reach as he takes a drive home from the LACC empty-handed.

Bitter loss at the second round of the US Open for Max Homa

In the first round, Homa?s performance was celebrated by the spectators. On Thursday, he shot a two-under 68. In the second round on Friday, he shot a 6-over 76 in order to finish two rounds at 4-over 144 and ended up missing the cut by two shots. This was not just a disappointing but a bitter loss as well for Homa who has grown up at the distance of a few miles from the LACC. During his early years in college, he spent a significant amount of time practicing and competing there. The fall on the home front must have left a deep wound in Max?s heart. Besides Homa, other players who didn?t make the cut at the tournament are Phil Mickelson?and?Jordan Spieth,?who both missed it dramatically by one shot.

Another disappointment for Max was that his whole family and friends had arrived at the event to see his performance. About their presence, Homa had said ?The advantage I have is that I?m very, very comfortable in this city. I?m with friends and family and it just is a short trip and all that.? But unfortunately, they had to head home when he did. Anyhow, Homa has a long career ahead of him and could make a victory at the next event.
