The young golf prodigy earned a spot in the WWT Championship at Mayakoba and played the qualifiers on Monday to make his way smoothly into the field of the $8.2 million event. He was not alone and cheering for him was his father who was seen walking alongside him throughout the event. Even though he missed his cut, his father had encouraging words to bestow on the younger golfer!

PGA Tour debut of the 17-year-old prodigy
Billy Davis was welcomed on the PGA Tour with open arms as he competed in Mayakoba. He had family support on the course. His father was interviewed briefly by the PGA Tour page in which they spoke about Davis and his performance. He had a phenomenal first round, a bogey free back nine where he shot four under par, however the front nine where he went three over par took his tally to a total of one under. This costed him to miss the cut off.
Billy Davis was shown swinging in the backdrop as his father spoke about how he was proud of his son despite him missing the cut. He said, “I’m really proud of him.” Both the father and the son were of lean figures with spectacles on.
The first thing that his father could fathom to say was “It’s fun to watch Billy play, and do what it is that he loves doing.” He further added that he thinks this experience will be good for him, given the fact that he is an upcoming golfer who, in fact, sees himself playing professional golf someday.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of keeping the flow maintained and pushing forward against all odds. At the end of the video he said, “Just keep going, keep going.”
