The fierce competitor who once said winning is the only thing that matters now has something else occupying his heart. Golf’s intimidator has transformed right before our eyes. Behind the stoic demeanor of Brooks Koepka lies a man who has always dreamed of fatherhood. This revelation came to light recently when his wife, Jena, shared a candid glimpse into their family planning journey.
Jena Koepka recently posted a heartwarming revelation on her Instagram Stories. Her words melted hearts across the golf world. “Biological clock was ticking. I’m hoping to be done by 40,” she wrote. But it was her subsequent disclosure that showed a whole new side to the LIV Golf star. “Brooks was ready before me, he’s always wanted to be a dad – it’s adorable.”
This surprising insight offers a stark contrast to Koepka’s public persona. On the course, he’s known for his intense focus and intimidating presence. His cold stare and championship mindset have earned him five major titles. Yet this isn’t the first time Jena has revealed Brooks’ softer side through social media. Before the Masters this year, in a post titled “I Wasn’t Ready,” she was moved to tears as their son’s Augusta National journey began with a special gift.

The couple welcomed their son Crew Sims Koepka in July 2023, just months after Brooks captured his fifth major championship at the PGA Championship. The timing couldn’t have been more poetic. However, their journey into parenthood came with significant challenges. Baby Crew arrived six weeks premature, requiring time in the neonatal intensive care unit. He was also diagnosed with plagiocephaly and torticollis, requiring treatment with a corrective helmet for 13 months, which he completed in February 2025.

Through these difficulties, Koepka demonstrated the same determination off the course that he’s famous for on it. According to Jena, he immediately embraced fatherhood with enthusiasm. “He is already such an amazing father and partner and I was so thankful he was home for this,” she shared shortly after Crew’s birth. These intimate glimpses into their family life have become precious windows for fans to see beyond the champion’s competitive exterior.

Balancing trophies and diapers: Koepka’s post-fatherhood performance
Koepka’s competitive fire has not diminished since becoming a father. In May 2024, less than a year after welcoming Crew, he captured the LIV Golf Singapore title. This marked his fourth victory on the LIV circuit, demonstrating that fatherhood hadn’t derailed his winning ways. He has continued to post solid finishes, including a T7 at LIV Golf Adelaide and a second-place finish at LIV Golf Singapore in March 2025.
However, there have been noticeable shifts in his game. He missed the cut at the 2025 Masters Tournament, a departure from his pre-fatherhood record at Augusta, where he finished T2 in both 2019 and 2023. Statistically, his putting remains elite with an average of 1.55 (ranked third on LIV Tour), but his driving accuracy has slipped to 52.9%, ranking him 37th on the circuit.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Brooks Koepka balance being a dad and a champion, or will one take a backseat?
Have an interesting take?
The emotional impact of his son’s health challenges appeared to affect his priorities. In October 2024, it was noted that “Crew’s fight for life made him uninterested in golf,” highlighting a significant shift for the five-time major champion. For a man once singularly focused on championships, his son’s well-being took precedence over everything else.
As Crew’s health has improved with the recent completion of his corrective helmet therapy, perhaps we’ll see a competitive resurgence from the champion. Will his newfound perspective as a father bring a different dimension to his game? Only time will tell, but one thing is sure—the fierce competitor now plays for something far more precious than trophies.
