Nearly every golf legend has shared a thought on the ongoing battle between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. While many have been against the idea of the lucrative Tour, some have sympathized with it. Ahead of the Masters, a veteran caddie, who has carried the bag for Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, and even Tiger Woods, revealed his opinion on the Tour war. However, unlike the 15-time Major winner, the caddie had different views on the Breakaway Tour.

Thanks to its Saudi funding, LIV Golf has managed to grasp some of the biggest names of its nemesis. While the defectors may have been bold enough to make the jump, their move was heavily scrutinized by the golf world. Nonetheless, another genius golf mind joined the list of critics by sharing his view on the Breakaway Tour. But was he against it, or was he defending the newly founded Tour?

What does the former caddie of Tiger Woods think about LIV Golf?

Billy Foster is one of the most recognized caddies in the world. He has been carrying the bag of Matthew Fitzpatrick since 2018, and even helped the golfer win last year’s US Open. While his client may currently be part of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, Foster viewed his positive thoughts on LIV Golf.

I can understand and I have no qualms with any of the players going”, said the caddie recently while speaking to GolfMagic. “I can understand why they’ve gone”. Billy then said how the defectors jumped to the Breakaway Tour since their idea is ‘play less and for a lot more money’. He also added how older golfers around the age of 40 shouldn’t be blamed for their move.

After sympathizing with LIV Golf, Billy Foster, then verbally attacked the PGA Tour for suspending the defectors. He said, “It’s a bit of a shame for the game that you’ve lost a few top, top players and they’re banned from the PGA Tour”. Nonetheless, Foster ended up claiming it would take ‘two or three years’, for both Tours to have peace among themselves.

While many veterans of the game including Tiger Woods have criticized LIV Golf, Billy didn’t shy away from giving the new Tour its props. Or is he hinting at Fitzpatrick’s jump to the lucrative Tour? To figure that out, the golf world has to wait for a lot more time even after the Masters. But are Foster and his client going to Augusta National?

Is LIV supporting caddie heading to the Masters?

Throughout his illustrious career, apart from Woods, Billy has also caddied for Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, and Thomas Bjorn.  Nonetheless after being appointed as Fitzpatrick’s caddie in 2018, Foster helped the Englishman win his maiden Major title last year.

The US Open win assured Matt an invitation to Augusta National for the next five years. Moreover, he is also ranked 15th in World Golf Rankings, solidifying his participation at Augusta National Golf Course. As Billy Foster will head to Georgia with his golfer, he will have plenty of LIV Golf defectors around him.

Nonetheless, with his positive thoughts on the Saudi-funded Tour, the veteran caddie will have a lot tougher time facing the PGA Tour stars rather than the LIV defectors. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
