The LIV Golf Invitational Series has been in the limelight for a long time, and its first event recently occurred in the Centurion Club, London. The new tour has emerged as a rival to the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. However, a recent report regarding the DP World Tour’s decision on the rival tour will shock every golf fan.

Former caddie Michael Collins recently uploaded a piece of shocking news using social media. The caddie-turned golf analyst for ESPN.com golf made a tweet regarding the DP World Tour, earlier known as the European Tour, allowing the LIV Golf players to compete in next week’s Tour event, BMW International Open in Germany.

The decision comes as a shock because earlier, the PGA Tour took a bold measure and suspended all the current and future players teeing it up on the Saudi-backed golf league events. Collins made the tweet on June 18, 2022. Collins tweeted about the same using his official Twitter account.

What does the bold DP World Tour decision say?

The tweet said, “BREAKING… LIV players WILL be permitted to play in next week’s DP World Tour event in Germany. Going against the PGA Tour’s suspension of player. This now sets up a precarious new wrinkle in the relationship between PGA Tour and the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour).”

DP World Tour’s decision probably depicts a conflict of interest between the two golf Tours. At the same time, the decision also means that the Saudi-backed golf league professionals can easily continue to play on the European Tour. Not to forget, players like Ian Poulter, Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson have committed to play on the new tour and played the first event last week at the challenging Centurion Golf Club.

According to another tweet by Michael, sources have confirmed that Louis Oosthuizen and Sergio Garcia are a part of the event next week at Golfclub München Eichenried. The tweet said, “Source confirms Louis Oosthuizen will also be competing in next week’s DP World Tour event in Germany.”  Will this decision create differences between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour? Only time will tell how the PGA Tour will react to this bold decision.
