When Brooke Henderson won the CPKC Women’s Open and ended her two-and-a-half-year drought, nothing had changed for the Canadian golfer, except one thing. Her father, Dave, is still her instructor, and her sister, Brittany, is still on the bag. Represented by the same management company, Brooke is still a Skechers athlete. However, after the victory at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club, when Henderson thanked THAT special person in her life, she also officially confirmed her relationship with Ricky Castro.

Having met Castro for the first time in Naples, Florida, the couple began dating in March of this year. And just like Brooke, her boyfriend is also a sports pro, who plays as a pitcher for the Wichita Wind Surge, a minor league team associated with the Minnesota Twins. And as per the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open champ, both being professional sportspersons helps them to a great extent. In an exclusive interview with Golfweek, Canada’s winningest golfer provided a deep dive into her personal life.

“I feel like this life out here is pretty difficult because you travel so much,” Henderson begins, “He’s traveling a lot, I’m traveling a lot, so he really understands the lifestyle and all that it takes to perform at your best.” She also said that Castro is always on board with her demanding LPGA schedule. Enough that she says now, “So he’s very understanding that way, which I think is really key in a relationship out here.”

When asked about whether Castro hits golf balls well, Brooke said, “He hits it super far, which is really impressive,” with a laugh. While the two have been together for almost six months now, Castro has yet to go out to an LPGA event and cheer for his girlfriend. But this may change soon.

Before winning the CPKC Women’s Open, Henderson was not sure about the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, where she also has a home. However, not only did she lock Naples, but the 27-year-old is also looking to build out her schedule in Asia before the season concludes in Florida.

Confident after her win, Brooke is now focused on what lies next for her. “Feel like there’s lots of good things to look forward to and lots of things to try to build the game for,” said Henderson, “and, yeah, I mean, I’m pretty pumped to put myself back in a position where I’m going to be invited to some of those things.
