LIV Golf has been in the news ever since its inception. The contentious league has been associated with big names, which has made the league a hot topic of discussion in the golf world. In the last two months, the name of Brooks Koepka echoed due to being the only LIV Golf member in the 2023 Ryder Cup, despite having the ranks of an in-form Bryson DeChambeau.

The conversation related to the two once-rivals has the fans divided. While some question why it is only Koepka who made it to the Ryder Cup team, some are more interested in knowing why Koepka was picked over DeChambeau and why not both. A recent debate over who’s more deserving has surfaced on the internet after Team America’s defeat in Rome, and the fans have some metiers to add.

In the last month, Koepka and DeChambeau have been in the headlights for multiple reasons. Preparing for the 2023 Ryder Cup, Koepka was the focus for being the sole LIV icon playing for America at Rome. DeChambeau has the spotlight after his $5.25 million win at the LIV Golf Series at the Chicago event.

After Koepka’s performance on the Roman greens, golf streets have erupted with questions, becoming the latest space for discourse. Recently, a fan took to Reddit to pose their well-thought-out query about the Ryder Cup Team pick.

The fan stated, “…speaking dispassionately – and as one of the 47 people on Earth who actually watches Liv Golf – Brooks going instead of Bryson was insane – even with the PGA Championship in Spring to his bow.”

The user further clarified“Bryson has played out of his skin the past 2 months – his putting is superb and he eats drivable par 4s for breakfast. Brooks seems to totally phone in a high % of events and has an arrogant and bullying attitude.” The conclusion followed, “Very poor decision from team US.”

This post became fans’ ground to defend and side with their favs and thus, a commotion of threads followed. Here are some glimpses of it.

Fans divided on Koekpa over DeChambeau

A user defending Koepka’s game and his pick on the 2023 Ryder Cup team said, “Brooks wasn’t the problem. He played better than most of the team, and he is built for matchplay. Donald did a much better job than Johnson of putting his players in winning positions. I also think that the U.S. team members like Brooks much more than Bryson…”

Another fan stating a rational thought and backing their claim with facts said, “Bryson literally sued the PGA tour and the players (other than Brooks) were very unhappy about it. It would not work to have him (or Phil) on the team.”

A user thought Koepka played well on the greens and liking Donald’s pick the user added, “Brooks went 1-1-1 netting 1.5 points in 3 events. He was not the problem imo. He was one of the few captain picks I liked.” A user adding to the thread and agreeing with the comments added, “Agree most of the captains picks played pretty well tbh.”

Another fan agreeing with the OG post said, “Bryson and phil over Spieth and Thomas.”

A fan thought Koepka’s pick on the team was justified and added, “Brooks has a better majors record, better Ryder Cup record, and doesn’t have any active lawsuits against the rest of the team.”
