Is the Spanish sun serving well for Smash GC? Brooks Koepka and his team, the Smash GC, are having absolute fun at the LIV Golf Andalucia at the Real Club Valderrama even before the event gets started. Two members of the Smash GC are particularly enjoying themselves with their fans and the latest Instagram post from the team is a testament to it.

The Smash GC posted Brooks Koepka and Graeme McDowell recreating the viral “No 44!” meme in their own unique styles and with one thing they both share. That is being a major winner. McDowell won a major in 2010 at the U.S. Open and Koepka, on the other hand, has clinched five major titles in his career.

The video surrounded the topic of majors and fans asking for an autograph from a major winner. But instead of the 5-time major winner, McDowell jumped out as he hid behind Koepka, standing as still as a rock, and signed for the fan, hypothetically. It was a valiant attempt from both Smash GC members as they tried to ace the social media game.

Netizens share contrasting views on Brooks Koepka and McDowell dun challenge

Who are the fan-favorite golfers on social media? A few weeks ago, Bryson DeChambeau held the title of the fan-favorite golfer after winning the U.S. Open for the second time, where he displayed incredible showmanship throughout the event. However, that title was taken away by Min Woo Lee as he shared an impressive clip before starting the Genesis Scottish Open.

Lee garnered praise for his excellent social media skills and was even held up as an example for Brooks Koepka and Graeme McDowell on how to follow trends. This fan said, “Look at @minwoo27lee and take notes on how it’s done…” Another user was not a fan of the video either. Despite Koepka and McDowell’s attempt, the post failed to impress this fan, as they said, “Classic LIV cringe content.”

When LIV Golf started in 2021, it introduced a new 54-hole format, elevated prize money, and other things. The comparison with the more traditional PGA Tour was inevitable. Some saw the changes brought about by the rebel league as negative, while others found them innovative. This fan happens to be from the former of the two as they disappointingly said, “You’d think a product with unlimited resources trying to be cooler than the pga tour would accidentally be cooler than the pga tour at least once by now.”

While many found the content cringe-worthy coming from Koepka and McDowell, there were a few who liked it. As for this fan, it didn’t matter that McDowell’s last and only major victory was exactly 14 years ago. And rather praised Koepka, who won five major titles in the last seven years, including back-to-back wins at the U.S. Open (2017 and 2018) and the PGA Championship (2018 and 2019). The user said, “I’ll take both, but Brooks all day!💯” Another fan reciprocated a similar emotion, they didn’t mind if Koepka signed or McDowell. Admiring the pros and confessing, this fan exclaimed, “Two absolute gems. Love ya Brooks, love ya G-Mac!”
