With all focus on the Ryder Cup players on the course, there is a huge responsibility on the captain as well. From strategizing the pairings, line-up to on-course tactics and motivator, the captains of both teams will be the real minds behind the performance of their respective teams. Well, Luke Donald is adding more mind to his process with Alex Noren, the in-form golfer, added to the vice-captain position. But on the other side, Keegan Bradley has been getting suggestions from the fans for his vice-captain choice. And now Bryson DeChambeau has joined the list by making his expectations for the captain clear.

Golf Channel shared a video with the title “Tales From the Ryder Cup, Chapter 3,” which had a glimpse and thoughts of top names from past Ryder Cup editions. But what struck the fans was the expectations laid out by the LIV golfer. DeChambeau, in the video, cleared the expectation from the captain as he said, “I believe that captain is very neutral, and he’s in it for everyone to be their absolute best. Someone that allows us players to be the best we can possibly be. Not forcing us to do anything but giving us the opportunity to showcase our skill sets to the best of our ability.”
As the golfer spoke his heart out, in the background, the video of his most successful Ryder Cup appearance was shared. The golfer who played under Steve Stricker’s captaincy in 2021 not just clinched her first Ryder Cup win, but also led the team to victory. DeChambeau was paired with Scottie Scheffler for the four-balls, which resulted in one win and one match halved. After that, he defeated Sergio Garcia in singles for his second Ryder Cup win. Now with the 2025 participation looming, DeChambeau has laid out his heart for Bradley as well.

Golf critics, including Brandel Chamblee, Johnson Wagner, and more, have shared that it would be hard to pair with DeChambeau. Chamblee shared, “I think Bryson DeChambeau will be hard to pair with. You know, I think he is. I believe Cameron Young plays a similar golf ball, if not the exact same golf ball. But just the style of golf Bryson plays has proved difficult to pair with in the Ryder Cup. His record clearly shows that.” The comment about the golfer’s game style raises a concern. Furthermore, when Bradley shared the pairing update, it raised a concern about confirmation.

Before the Procore Championship, Bradley shared in the press conference that he is ready with 90% of the pairings. With the experts predicting difficulty, and then Bradley still figuring out the pairing, there is a concern for DeChambeau. But the pairings aren’t the only focus, as fans are suggesting the captain include another in-form LIV golfer on the team.
Keegan Bradley under scrutiny for not picking LIV golfer
For the 2025 Team USA, Bryson DeChambeau is the only LIV golfer on the team. Bradley, with his pick, left the three Ryder Cup players, Patrick Reed. With a 7-3-2 record, Captain America has been among the most prominent names when it comes to the Ryder Cup. Notably, at Hazeltine in 2016, he outdueled Rory McIlroy in a Sunday showdown that still echoes in golf lore. Reed made birdie after birdie with fist pumps that ignited the crowd. Though his performance before the Ryder Cup wasn’t that impressive, he is now showcasing sheer dominance.

The golfer defeated all the European team players at the BMW PGA Championship and finished T3 with rounds of 69-68-69-66. The consistent performance with over 20 birdies has invited fans to warn Keegan Bradley about bringing Reed onto the team. Earlier, the opponent captain, Luke Donald, did the same move as he appointed Alex Noren as vice-captain after his British Masters win. Now, the fans expect the same for Reed, who has been a crucial part of the American side in the Ryder Cup.
What will Bradley prioritize more, players’ suggestions or adding new names as vice-captain? What do you think about it? Share with us in the comments below.
