Last season, Bryson DeChambeau was one of golf’s most reliable closers. He recorded two wins and top-10 finishes at the majors. This year, the American golfer has not played in a single weekend. As the game’s biggest names spend this week treating the Scottish Open as their final tune-up for Royal Birkdale, DeChambeau, by contrast, is practicing at a Canadian resort for the final major of the year.

Bryson DeChambeau has been seen spending time filming content at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, Alberta. It’s a mountain course known more for scenery than major championship prep. The footage was shared by a fan page, Bryson Legion, on X, showing him walking on the 18th hole with a camera crew in tow. He hit putts and chipped around the green while the video was recorded for an upcoming release.

The timing has drawn attention given DeChambeau’s 2026 campaign.

The LIV star missed the cut in all three majors so far in 2026, the first time in his career.

He triple bogeyed the final hole of his second round at the Masters to miss the weekend there. He struggled at the PGA Championship held at Aronimink Golf Club. He missed the cut after shooting rounds of 76 and 71 to finish at 7-over-par, ultimately tying for 112th place. At the U.S. Open, he missed the cut at Shinnecock Hills by a single shot, finishing at five-over par after rounds of 70 and 75.

Comparing that to last season, he arrived at the major as a two-time US Open champion with six top-10 finishes.

DeChambeau addressed the slide in his performances in a recent YouTube video. He broke down every shot that went wrong in his majors. He added that the way he has played recently is not a true reflection of where his game stands. He further defended himself by adding that regardless of results, he keeps “putting his best foot forward” at every event, whether it’s on camera or on course.

On the other hand, other tour pros have spent this week at the Scottish Open, treating the Renaissance Club as the final tune-up. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have headlined the field, calling it one of the best courses to play before the Open. LIV Golf star Jon Rahm has also made a rare appearance to test his game outside that. Moreover, the Spaniard called the Scottish Open a key part of his Open buildup.

Not all Tour pros are teeing up at the Scottish Open. Some are utilizing their time on the Open’s practice grounds for their preparation. Cameron Smith and Lucas Herbert did the same ahead of the tournament, with footage showing Smith working through swing changes with his coach, Claude Harmon, right in front of the venue.

Fans have criticized DeChambeau for his choice of priorities. If Royal Birkdale goes the way his last three majors have, DeChambeau will have to explain his performance and his priorities at the moment.
