Despite the event being over, the discussions surrounding the year’s second major are not yet finished! Brooks Koepka’s stellar win at Oak Hill astonished everyone. Greg Norman, the LIV CEO, said ahead of the Masters that if any LIV golfer wins the major tournament, all the other 17 golfers will be there on the 18th cheering him up. On the contrary, it seemed like this was not the case in New York!

In fact, Bryson DeChambeau was one of the only LIV golfers who were there to congratulate the winner, Koepka. And the 29-year-old golfer was not thrilled at all by what he witnessed at the 18th hole when Keopka won.

Bryson DeChambeau sheds light on his thoughts about the treatment Brooks Koepka got on the 18th at Oak Hill

Greg Norman’s words did not come true when Brooks Koepka hit his winning shot at the 105th PGA Championship. The first person he hugged after the shot was his caddie, not one of his fellow LIV golfers competing that day. While to many it seemed like the team format LIV had introduced had failed to create deeper bonds, Bryson DeChambeau busted that myth with his words to the press before LIV’s Washington event recently.

Despite not being Koepka’s teammate in LIV and also having a longstanding rivalry with the golf pro, DeChambeau was the first to congratulate the five-time major winner. And in the interview, he revealed his unhappiness with the 2023 PGA Championship winner’s treatment after his win.

The 29-year-old claimed that he believed in giving respect to people when it was due! He has won five majors, and he played better than me that week, and what was sad is that really nobody was there to congratulate him after,” he said. “It’s like, man, no matter what Tour you’re on, no matter what you’re doing, that’s five majors, and he deserves some respect on that.

DeChambeau stated that he thought going back and congratulating the golfer was the right thing to do. He said that being a LIV golfer was part of his action, but more than that, it was about mutual respect. “This guy just won five majors, and I want to see that. It’s pretty special, and I want to give him the respect that he is due.”

Another player who congratulated him and even put him on a pedestal higher than Tiger Woods was Billy Horschel. PGA Pro Viktor Hovland also praised the 5-time major champion and called him a “great player.” Greg Norman, the LIV CEO, also congratulated him and called him the “champion of this era.”
