The PGA Tour is nearing its late November part at the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. The Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2025 will be held this year from November 13 to November 16. The field of this $6M event will be headlined this week by Rico Hoey, Kevin Yu, Thorbjorn Olesen, and Nico Echavarria, amongst others, as they will be trying to get FedEx Cup points and make a late-season statement. While we will see some top-class talent here, many names have taken a break this week.

#1: Max Homa

Max Homa was not up to the mark this season. He completely missed the fall swing, indicating that his restructuring is deeper than just managing his schedule. The stats reveal his difficulties: Homa’s driving accuracy was about 60.49%, which made him fall short of the Tour’s top level. His average tee shot of 300.8 yards put him in the 114th position, way below his customary level.

More tellingly, he only managed to accrue 351 FedExCup points, which placed him around 111th in the rankings. He could only get to the top 25 once by the end of July. Overwhelmed by a series of missed cuts, coaching changes, and a new caddie who clearly identified a downturn in his performance, for the time being, Homa seems to be taking a step back for a mental and physical regrouping.

#2: Rickie Fowler

A top player who might have benefited from this event during the fall swing by gaining vital points; still, Fowler is not playing, and the reasons are piling up. This year, he has struggled. Official figures show that in 2025 he made around US$3.44 million. Entered 21 tournaments, cut 18 times, but this could not be turned into the consistency he became known for.

His ball-striking also got hit. He lost over 10 yards off the tee in comparison to the previous years and dropped considerably in “Strokes Gained Approach” rankings. With an empty fall schedule and this event scratched from his calendar, it seems Fowler has chosen a reset. Heal the shoulder, redefine the game plan, and get ready for a comeback.

#3: Ben Griffin

Ben Griffin has quietly carved out a breakout year, and his absence from this week’s field would be conspicuous. He entered 2025 with 0 wins, and now, he has 3. Given his form, many expected him to be teeing up this fall. Fighting for a fourth win, yet he made selective appearances this fall: he played seven of the eight fall events and posted five top-25 finishes. The decision to skip this event might be wedding preparation, as he is getting hitched next month, or maybe he just needed rest.

The 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship is still going to be a great mix of up-and-coming players and veterans, with some of them being our top picks. Who are you going to be rooting for?
