Every victory in the sports world becomes headlines. However, every ‘near-miss’ also receives special attention from the fans. The same happened with the PGA Tour pro Cameron Young at the WGC Match Play 2023. He shot an insane near ace, making his worst shot into a great shot. Young finished a transformative 2022 with a strong week in the Bahamas. He entered the scene as a rookie, but his tremendous driving and putting demonstrated that he will be a player for a very long time. And now his miss is the talk of the town. How did Young feel about it? What do fans think?

A disappointing day for Cameron Young

After his round at the Match Play, Young talked to reporters. He accepted it was the worst shot of the day. “Yeah, it was just awful. So I really got away with one there,” he added. In a way, it was a kind of poetic justice that Kurt Kitayama made that spot. Young replied, “Yeah. He walked up to the green. He asked if I would do good. Good. And I said no, but it was a fair trial because he deserved a lot more than I did there. But you need some of those things.”

When Young missed the hole, he said, “are you serious.” The disappointment was visible on his face. Even the fans witnessed all of it and reacted to the video by the PGA Tour. However, they gave it a hilarious turn with sarcasm and jokes. But his ‘good. good’ comment was the champion. The fans said, “Asking for good good. Love it 😂” and “I would have given the good good,” followed by “Good-good? 😂” and “Wow I really just got the meaning behind Good Good’s channel name🤦‍♂️

Commenting on his shot, the fans said, “The kind of ace that you apologize for on the way back to your bag 😂,” and “Better to be lucky than good sometimes cuz no way he meant to do that 😂.” Some reactions like “He could be a hobbit in LOTR,” and “He’d have been embarrassed had that gone in! 😂,” “It would’ve been a sloppy ace, nothing to be proud of. I would’ve felt the same,” and “and he was upset like he was supposed to do that,” were also part of the comment section. However, good comments followed too. “Been waiting for him to get hot this year.”

Why the PGA Tour pro golfer has to apologize?

After a great run of luck at the WGC-Dell Match Play, Sky Sports commentator Dame Laura Davies instructed Cameron Young to apologize to his opponent. The 25-year-old golfer advanced to this week’s knockout rounds in Texas by playing some great golf at the $20 million championship event. However, he needed unusual good fortune to keep up his winning streak against fellow American Kurt Kitayama in the quarterfinal match at the Austin Country Club on Saturday.

Going into the second nine, Young held a 3-up advantage against Kitayama, but he pulled his tee shot at the par-3 11th well left. But then, in what many fans hailed as one of the season’s luckiest shots, he witnessed his ball miraculously rebound back off the mounds and roll to within inches of the pin for a tap-in birdie.

The veteran Davies made light of the fact that Young had an obligation to apologize to Kitayama at such a pivotal point in the game. “Well, what can you say… he should say sorry really, in match play that’s rude!
