2016 was a difficult year for the 15-time major champion. For the first time in his career, he missed most of the season and all four majors because of his back pain. During that time, Norman, a former PGA Tour legend himself pointed out that he thinks that Woods would not return to his previous form in the coming years. He was interviewed by a TMZ Sports reporter who asked him the question about Woods’ retirement and his probable return.

Norman’s response was; “The older he gets, the younger other players get. It’s harder for him to compete at the higher level; the body does not allow you to do it.” He also mentioned that it is hard to “match the kids in their twenties when you are in your forties.”

When the interviewer asked him if he has any advice for the 82-time PGAT winner, he said that one should be realistic in life and should think of the life that is ahead. He also mentioned that one should be sure of their decision going forward.

On the contrary, it seems that the 68-year-old was clueless about Woods’ potential back then, as the GOAT returned with a bang for the 2017 season.

How did Woods prove Norman wrong?

In 2017, the 5-time Masters Champion returned and shocked everyone with his performance. During the 2017-18 season, the Golf Hall of Gamer competed in 18 events, and won 1 of them He finished in the top 10 in 7 of those events and was runner up for 2 of them. These stats definitely does not sound like how Norman explained Woods.
