First Tee was founded in 1997 as a collaboration between major golf organizations, including the PGA Tour, PGA of America, LPGA Tour, Masters Tournament, and the United States Golf Association (USGA). This partnership aimed to make golf more accessible to youth and to teach important life skills such as honesty, perseverance, respect, and integrity through the holistic game.

The organization provides access to opportunities to the kids in safe and fun environment.  What started as the lesson program on the greens, soon expanded by bringing the program to physical education classes across the country through its in-school and after-school programs.

First Tee reaches over 3.6 million youths annually, delivering programs across the United States and internationally through schools, golf chapters, and community centers. The charitable organization chapters contribute significantly to local communities, with notable initiatives like the renovation of a par-3 course in San Francisco and the establishment of new learning centers in Tampa Bay and the Quad Cities.
